I’ve just returned from a few days in Dublin, which was a joy, as always.
I’m thrilled to bring you some recommendations for places to eat and drink in the city.
Fish Shop
A great new discovery and highly recommended for great fresh fish and wine. Also, Bar Pez is run by the same team, so do check that out too.
Uno Mas
Popular for a reason - excellent tapas and a lovely environment
Loose Canon
For great natural wines and cheese toasties
Fallon & Byrne
The Cellar Bar downstairs is very good for a simple pizza or fish stew. Good value and very easy.
Bambino
Enjoyable New York style pizza, sold by the slice. Eat in (if you can find a seat) or take away. Very fresh and hot. Cheaper than an average sandwich.
Big Fan Bao
Chinese small bites - comes highly recommended
Chapter One
It really is the place to go for a special blow-out meal.
And for a great coffee and cinnamon bun, visit Fable on Dawson Street. For a nice scone and cup of tea (a favourite of mine), try Keogh’s Cafe on Trinity Street or Camerino Bakery.
In terms of accommodation, The Merrion is my favourite luxury hotel. It’s so warm and friendly and has a really special feel. I also really recommend Number 31, where I have stayed twice, which is a great B&B a short walk from the city centre, and is very good for a lower cost option.
Do, please, let me know if you try any of these recommendations.
