The weekend offers me the time to enjoy some leisurely cooking. I really appreciate taking the time to get organised and focus on making something new and different.

Jane Lovett is one of my favourite food writers and her new book, Deliciously Simple is excellent. You’ll find some recipes from the book here. I’m going to try the dal this evening.
The squash lasagne from Mezcla by Ixta Belfrage is really different, but really good.
I love Meera Sodha’s recipes and this aubergine recipe with Thai basil is calling me. Thai basil is quite readily available in Sainsbury’s and Waitrose.
This spicy braised tofu is the sort of thing I just can’t get enough of at the moment. It’s so good.
Paid subscribers will have received my recipe for my new favourite Palestinian-inspired chicken stew. I can’t recommend it more highly.
